Using 180mm rotors with caliper designed for 185mm

I've just been buying a set of Avid XX disc brakes for my Cove Hummer, both of which are 185mm's. I assumed that this would be suitable after reading a spec. of another hummer online that used 185's front and back (this must have been incorrectly stated). Anyway it appears that the 185 is too big for the back and cove have confirmed this.
I was wondering can I use a 180mm rotor with these calipers? Will I lose much power or is there an adapter I can get or something? Dont really fancy having to fork out for a set of 160mm's just for the back.
