I want to ride from Liverpool to Leeds and was wondering if anyone had done it on the Trans Pennine Trail or maybe ever the Leeds-Liverpool Canal?

Going to do it over two days so will book a b&b halfway I think.

Any tips and advice most welcome, thanks.

There are loads of posts about the TPT on the CTC forum. Might be worth an ask there as well.

To be slightly more helpful, I have done the TPT. The first half ( going West to east) is very interesting, but slow going. Mostly old rail lines and canalside, but lots of motorbike traps and the like.

I've ridden the cheshire lines and parts are a bit flinty while others are well paved and others just dirt tracks; surprisingly it can get quite busy. It's lovely in the summer.

i have ridden the whole route (and even hornsea-southport-hornsea! ;) ) the part from hadfield through to silkstone common is not very usable on a road bike. its mainly off road and can get boggy if its wet. once you climb the highest point and decend into dunford bridge...... that could be fun on a road bike. my mountain bike with knobblies got up to 38 mph!

give me a shout if you need any more info.
