My new Raleigh SP Comp

Thought I's share my new road bike with you, it's a warranty replacement for my cracked Raleigh Airlite U6 Race. I ended up getting a whole bike as replacement less than 3 weeks after I dropped the old one off at the shop - great service IMHO.
First impressions are after a couple of quick 30km rides, the bike feels great, really responsive and snappy in acceleration.
It feels very stiff when you're out of the saddle and cranking on the bars a marked improvement over my old bike.
Hopefully i'll be back out on it again tomorrow if the rain holds off. I reckon the only thing I'm planning on changing is the wheels, I had RS20's on my old bike and the new RS80's have caught my eye - also a cracking way to shed over 300g's from the bike in the most important area.
It's a slightly dodgy iPhone Pic in front of the fire for now

Cracking looking bike, nice to see something not Italian, french or Chinese. Any before anyone says anything I do realise they're all pretty much manufactured in the same place!0

First decent looking Raleigh I've seen for years0

Cheers guys, just bought and fitted a set of Shimano RS80 wheels - massively lighter and smoother running.
Can't wait to get out on them tomorrow morning0 -

And I can report they are a massive improvement!
Especially noticeable when accelerating and climbing, well happy0 -
Hey there,
I am currently using the RS10 same like you do and was contemplating to have a change at its wheels. Had always thinking of changing them to RS80. Do you have any trouble with the new wheelset like having to go the bike shop to get it fine tune something like that?0 -
Great looking bike.....its about time Raleigh got it rightCervelo R5

itboffin,
1. Not exactly an original Raleigh spec is it?
2. Most people would say Raleigh did some nice bikes a while ago, but have been in the wilderness since, so even if it was more than 10% original I think you'd be missing the point attaching a pic of a nice 80s Raleigh anyway0 -

I think the font of 'COMP' helps that classy, understated look.0

Aree - the RS80's are superb wheels, I've done over 500 miles on them since fitting and haven't had a problem. They're true & straight and I've ridden some very rough country roads on them too.
Cheers to the rest of you for the comments0
