Two bikes....

Does anyone own two road bikes? I don't mean a summer bike and a winter bike, or a tourer and a commuter etc. I mean two good "summer"/"good weather" bikes? Just so you can choose which one you would like to ride? :P I.E a top end aluminium and a carbon fibre so you can go into the garage and go: "hmmm I'll take the carbon one today" I can't help thinking that if I had the money I would lol.

Does anyone own two good bikes for no other reason than they may fancy a change every now and then?

Presently running 5 - recently got rid of two frames and will shortly be ordering another custom titanium frame to bring me back up to 3 road bikes and 3 cross bikes...
Each is intended for a slightly intended purpose rather than having two the same:
    race bike
    fixed gear
    classic steel retrobike
    CX race bike
    CX training / travel bike
    CX singlespeed
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I would have an extra bike if I could afford one. Not for luxury, but as a back-up in case the other one got stolen / crash damaged.

Yep. Nice to have a choice depending on the roads I'm riding on and if I only have a certain colour of cycling top clean I can match it to whatever bike suits. Vain! Me?

Look 585 and Ribble Gran Fondo. The latter usually has Crud Racers on and is used for commutes plus sportives/weekend rides if the weather is crap.

Nice to be able to pick and choose!

While the minimum number of bikes one should own is three, the correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned. This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

Own two personally but have access to three. My road bike, which I do longer stuff on, a front Raleigh summatsorother which I use when I go out with my lad mostly and the missus's old skool Raleigh Max with a hard nose and chunky (ladies) frame. I ride the latter two in worser weather, but am by no means a fair weather cyclist, When I upgrade my roadie I am sure I will keep my current one for the hell of it. Nice to have a choice.

Wilier Izoard and a Cervelo Soloist. Selling the Soloist as it's a little too big and have bought a Canyon to replace it with. Will stick the Soloist frameset up on classifieds next month.

As to why, I bought the Izoard last September, and then decided I'd like to race, so decided to go for a decent aluminium frame and bought the Soloist. Train on whatever bike takes my fancy at the time, weather dependant etc.
  • Just brought an Tarmac Sl2, already have a CAAD9, not sure weather to sell it or keep it for a spare winter bike as my Tarmac dosent look like it wants the abuse. :?

I've got two road bikes (a Boardman Team Carbon and a Specialized Roubaix) as well as a flat barred commuter/tourer Cotic Roadrat and half a dozen mountain bikes.

I've had the Boardman since Christmas but swapped a spare Ti framed mountain bike for the Roubaix a couple of months back. Still not decided if I'll keep both or to sell the Boardman and spend the cash either getting a cyclocross bike or perhaps a new groupset for the Roubaix.

While I've got both bikes I tend to alternate between the two, but I've usually decided which one to take before I head into the garage.

I have two 'best bikes' one carbon, one aluminium. I also have a winter trainer and an old Marin ALP which I've lent to a mate over the summer

I did indeed go into my garage this morning and think 'hmmm I'll take the carbon one out today'

But then I got a call from a mate and we're going MTBing instead.

I've got 3 'best' road bikes - one steel, one alum and one carbon - as well as 3 geared TT bikes.and 3 fixed TT bikes.

Also 3 mountain bikes, 3 fixed wheel winter bikes and others. A total of 17 altogether.

I have no bike at the moment :cry::cry:

Ideally, should have two; one good and one 'all weather' bike for use in winter and summer!!!
