This may be a stupid question but I don't know the answer  , so someone else hopefully will :)

Currently on my bike I have a 11-36 9 speed cassttte, what would the difference(s) be if i change it for a 10 speed 12-25?

The first big difference would be the big hole in your pocket caused by the expense of changing your levers for a 10 speed setup!

The second difference would be much harder hill climbing - 36 is a very, very low gear for a road bike. 25 is a fairly standard one assuming you live somewhere that has a sensible topography (eg not the Lake District).

12-25 is the norm for a compact chainring setup (ie 50:34 on the front).
    Faster than a tent.......

11-36 in a road bike, are you sure. Better to just change it to a 9 speed 12-27 cassette 20 quid on chain reaction, I think.

Hills will become noticeably harder, due to losing quite a few teeth. On top of that, you will have to shell out to replace your drivetrain (casette, shifters and chain) just to accomodate the new casette. Not worth it in my opinion, a cheap 9 speed casette would do fine and save alot of money!
