Portes du Soleil area - just for DH?

Looking to do something a little different for hols next year and mountain biking in the Alps sounds rather attractive. However, after a whizz around the internet the main resorts of Morzine etc all seem very DH specific.
Just picked up this month's MBUK which has a feature on the area and, again, the writer highlights that any rig with 160mm of travel will be ok. I ride an Anthem X4 with 100mm of travel!
So, to get to the point, what I want to know is, once I get a lift to the top of a mountain, is it DH all the way or are XC trails also available? And, is there any one specific resort that is better for XC than the others?
