Out of the three I'd pick the XC's and live with the rate of wear.

From bitter experience, the Mountain Kings are dreadfful on cat1 track, and no better on tarmac. They have huge rolling resistance, too. Bloody awful tyres.
How would I write my own epitaph? With a crayon - I'm not allowed anything I can sharpen to a sustainable point.

Sounds like a fairly decent ride distance wise. Have you considered using a combination of tyres? Perhaps putting one of your fire xc's on the front and buying something like a continental double fighter for the rear? You'll minimise rolling resistance and also retain a lot of grip.

Furious Freds FTW. Half the weight of Fire XCs and insanely fast.
