Help - Rattle in frame :(

OK, so I bought a canonndale caad9 a few months ago off ebay for a really good deal, the only thing that was wrong with it was a loose bottlecage boss. Since all my rides are usually 30 miles or less, I just used one bottlecage and ignored it, but decided I may as well take it to the bike shop to get it fixed as it couldn't be that expensive.

So the lbs did it, but a piece of the old boss fell into the frame. They assured me that I could simply remove the bottom bracket to get the piece out...but the frame is in sections, so there is no way anything from the downtube can get into the bottom bracket. So I have a rattle from inside my frame. Is there any way I can get this piece out from the downtube? I was thinking about removing the forks, but don't want to mess up my bike :oops:

If it fell in when the local bike shop fixed it surely they should have removed it? I'd personally take it back to the shop if so and get them to remove to it if it is their fault.

I don't know how they expect it just to fall out if you take the BB out? These are sealed...

Pretty sure it's an alloy frame - if the old boss piece is any other metal then you should be able to get a magnet and pull it back up and out of somewhere else. The magnet wont react with the alloy, but unless the boss is alloy, it should pull that out!

I agree with the above though, i'd take it back to the LBS and get them to sort it. It wasn't like that when you took it in....
