I like a relaxed geometry, ie higher at the front, not racing type

I am unsure about what to check on specs, as I understand it its the head tube length that is critical?

So this looks like Roubaix or Synapse or maybe Scott CR1?

How critical is the length of headtube?

Is the top tube as critical?

I am 5' 8" with 30 inch inside leg so I think its a 54cm, although some say 52cm

I am looking at the Cannondale Super Six Ultegra but unsure about the geometry.

Also offered a Scott addict for a great price but it looks a bit low at the front.

Looked at Planet X before I went on holiday a couple of weeks ago but they look a bit too racey!

I only do 40 miles or so to keep fit

Must get one tomorrow as I am doing a charity event at weekend

Any advise appreciated

Thanks

You seem to have posted 377 times about bike buying in one form or another
So, don't buy tomorrow is my advice, but if you do go and buy a Roubaix sl3, I'll have if it off you in 6 months instead of putting it on ebay.... for a few quid of course.

So, you are buying a new bike just days before an important ride...oh dear! I get nervous about having to adjust the brakes just before something that I have worked towards.

My advice...forget about buying the bike tomorrow. You have raised a lot of questions and you need some time to think things through. Do the charity ride on whatever you have done your training and take the pressure off yourself or you could end up with the wrong bike, sold to JGSI at a loss :)

Flyer too much choice and too many issues in yer head.

Buy any of the bikes you mention and get on with life. A pal of mine has the Cannondale Super Six Ultegra and he loves it - how can you go wrong with the top of the range bike? Of course a bike fitting will make sure its a comfortable as possible as well but you have to draw a line and move on.

I knows it because this weekend I'll buy a new bike and its been an equally confusing experience with so many great bikes to choose from!

    Good luck,
    Richard
