Chain Wear

Hello - I believe that chains can stretch & wear.

How do I check for this, and how soon does it typically begin to happen?

Also, I presume the teeth of the chain wheel & casette can wear - at what point does one think about changing it? Is it just when they look visually worn (rounded rather than sharp teeth) or does the chain slip?

Hi, have a google for this, Park Tool CC3C - Chain Wear Indicator
    It is cheap but effective.
If your chain is worn to 0.75 replace the chain.
If it is worn to 1.0 replace the chain and cassette.

Chain wear indicators are just to sell new chains. A new chain can be part worn on one. They also include roller wear in the measurement which is irrelevant.
Read the last paragraph in Sheldon's article and use a ruler. Cheaper and more accurate.
