Hi all, need your technical expertise again!
Did post this in the MTB section but was suggested I ask over here as well.
Use my MTB for my commute to and fro work, only 3 miles each way & I'm pretty much on roads all the time, up and down the occasional curb & sometimes take the light off-road route back across Epsom Downs on my way home.
Got a buckled rear wheel at the moment & having put about 2-3k on these wheels may look for a new set, seen these:

I've got Avid Juicy Three brakes so hopefully should be fine.
Also seen someone on here has these on eBay, look equally as tempting:

What's peoples opinions on the above?
Also on the shopping list I'm thinking of replacing my crank as one of the teeth has gone on the outer ring and again covered over 2k miles on it now. I've already replaced the rear cassette, chain & front derailleur. In an ideal world i'd like to increase the potential top end speed so have a higher ratio. The crank I currently have is "TruVativ Five D 3.1, 44/32/22 with Alloy Outer Chainring" so would the below fit, what size would you recommend if I'm getting bigger, and what if any restrictions are there on me going bigger?

Budget for the whole lot is £250ish so open to ideas of better spec etc.
Cheers for the help,
Russ

Fitting commuting wheels to a MTB? Want to go faster/higher ratio?
How about fitting cyclo-cross (700c) wheels with skinny tyres?

Currently got "skinny" tyres on there on the MTB wheels that came with the bike. Did originally have:
Rims: WTB SX24, Double Wall, 32 Hole Disc
Spokes: WTB 15 Gauge Black Stainless
Tyre: WTB Prowler MX Comp, 26” x 2.1” (49/52)
Using the above rims i've now got Continental Sports Contact tyres that are 26 x 1.6
Holding fire on the crank now as I know I can move up to the 48.36.26 crank, but after visiting the local bike shop, they've said my chains going to need replacing to accomodate & at the same time I'll replace the cassette. Plus side is they are the same price as on the net so not going to cost anymore.
So for now going to hunt for wheels up to a budget of £200. Once i've decided & got them I can hand the whole lot to Fudges in Epsom to put it all together0 -

I'm considering CX disc wheels for my MTB for commuting - do you have any suggestions/links? I keep coming up blank or hitting big £ items.
Thanks
