I have a Trek 5200 OCLV which I bought almost new 6 years ago and it's been an excellent servant, however I might treat myself to a new bike this autumn. Looking to spend ~£2000. When will the serious bike sales start ? October / November ? Don't want to leave it too late before stock of my size (54/56) vanishes.

Start looking from the beginning of August. Check the websites of the big suppliers (Evans, Wiggle, Ribble etc) for any headline deals but don't forget the smaller fish as they may be more eager to shift old stock

I picked up my 2010 Spesh at the end of August last year down from £999 to £799 and I haggled another £50 off with a few bits thrown in (bottle cages and bottles)

Also might not be a bad idea phoning round any bike shops in your area to see what offers they may have on and compare with any online discounts that should start appearing about now.
  • stocks dwindling already,as most shopsI've seen have been giving generous discounts since April
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles
