Hi,

Anyone got any views on Cube Bikes - considering an Agree GTC Race as it's pretty well spec'd but unsure as to the quality of the carbon frame etc.compared to more mainstream brands. Anyone got one.......... Also are the Fulcrum 5's any good. Been looking online and can't find too much info on them.....

Thanks

Chief

    ChiefW,

Cube have a great reputation. Good spec, reliable and well made. Cycling+ raved about the Attempt GTC Pro in this years bike of the year and it just missed out on a top 4 spot. The Alu Attempt was actually the sub £1000 bike of the year this year. I tested the GTC Race for 20 mins and it was a nice ride (I went Ti in the end) . They (like Canyon, Rose and Van Nicholas) are well known on the continent but don't advertise too much over here.

Fulcrum 5s are a solid wheel. Not ultra light but they'll be fine for general use. For me they would be my first upgrade on that bike.

Hope this is of some use.

    Regards, EarlyGo

Had my 2011 Agree GTC Race for 6 months now, it's been faultless, build quality is superb.

I was looking at the CUBE Attempt the other day in my LBS and pretty much made my mind up that it will probably be my next bike, lovely finish on them.

I've got a 2010 Agree GTC Race and can't fault it. I've changed to a carbon seat post and a longer stem as it felt a touch short.

Can't comment on the wheels as my older model came with Eastons.

  • Also 6 months use with the 2011 Agree GTC race. Great bike, faultless and reasonably high specced. Carbon seat post and better wheels are my desires to upgrade.

    Def recommend this model

  • Thanks everyone - just what I wanted to hear - just ordered up the Agree GTC Race - my first proper road bike - can't wait!!!!!!
  • Which did you go for, Compact or Triple ?
  • Went for the compact.......

Managed to get it in the chain reaction sale - so may be able to upgrade those wheels sooner than I thought.

If this is your first proper road bike, you better start speaking nicely to your bank manager as you may well be itching for a new bike in 12-18 months and the only way up up in terms of spec... and price of course

I see the 2010 Lightening Super HPC Di2 is going for a snip at £4499.99

Agree GTC Race looks a nice bike. I was looking at the more modestly-priced Cube Streamer as more relaxed geometry for me. Unfortunately the LBS I visited at the weekend didn't have the model in so I've not seen it in the flesh yet. :(
  • 24hrs to go......

@Benno68 - unfortunately in pre purchase negotiations with Squaw Long Hair Running Red Wine - the contract states that no new bike can be purchased for the next two years!!!!!

Bikes seem ok built to a high standard but haven't actually owned one. Cube customer service is not so good, that is why I did not buy. Was considering a tourer/expedition bike the Kathmandu or similar. I wanted to know if they could suppy a slightly different spec ie non suspension front fork. Cube didn't want to know. They basically said we make tens of thousands of bikes each year and couldn't possibly change spec for just one customer. So feck 'em. They didn't get my money.
