hi guys, I got my first road bike the other day, specialized allez sport. What's the general verdict on this entry level bike and where should I be looking to start upgrading(once I've saved a few bob lol)

Thanks folks

    conti gp4000s light, puncture proof.
  • Thanks for the advice, I find the sora group set a tad clunky and has a mind of it's own when you climb lol, but for a first road bike it's going ok, I will get a new set of tyres ordered today then.

  • if it didn't come with them proper shoes and clipless pedals would be a great upgrade!

Rider fitness is the cheapest and most enjoyable upgrade
To err is human, but to make a real balls up takes a super computer.
  • road shoes and clipless pedals, costs about £100 altogether but well worth it
  • Pedals and shoes fitted today, yes I agree me losing weight is the cheapest upgrade but my love affair with Ronald McDonald is a long standing one and will be difficult to let that go haha

  • That's sound advice Stanley, I will just get tyres and use the bike till next spring/summer and take it from there :D (loving the sexy shoes n pedals rode all the way to mcds for a meal today lol)

If you have an i phone or android phone I found strava.com was an excellant tool to keep me motivated. It tracks your regular journeys and compares times so you can see how much you are improving and its free, it also shows other riders times so you can see how fast or slow you really are.
