Wow! Lots of disparaging remarks from the cycle chat crowd. All she did was flip the bird. It looked like a pretty empty road. A mildly irritating bit of driving but loads of space to move round. The cyclist just had to assert his right to be in the sh!tty blue paint. Zzzzzz..0

Have a salad!!!
Bikes run on fat and save you money. Cars run on money and make you fat.I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0 -
Classy bird indeed.
I don't like watching videos like that. Remind me what tossers are out there and make me want to not go out riding.0 -
What a fat waste of space. Good job I'm not Home Secretary or people like that would be melted down into fuel for old people to keep warm.

Actually I'm being serious. It's a mountain out of a mole hill. Anyone who thinks a mildly irritating bit of driving deserves all the vitriol from so many people would be happier here:

Actually it appears from the footage she came right out across the blue cycle lane not stopping at the junction causing the cyclist who had the right of way to swerve out of the cycle lane to avoid being knocked down. How would you have handled the situation?

Hmm, I have to say I agree. The fat burd was clearly one of society's rejects and inconsiderate but drivers roll across cycle lanes like that ALL the time in London. In fact I would go as far to say that I can barely remember the last time a car didn't roll out over the edge of the give way dashed line in London. When I come to turns on the left like that and especially when I can see a car approaching the give way, I take the lane to stop cars behind me squeezing me into the cycle lane. Staying rigidly in the blue or green cycle lane is going to end in tears one day. I take the lane at just about every junction like that to ensure I have the space.... Stuff the motorists behind me, as long as I am safe. I'm sorry but this is just a daily occurence (minus the finger)Do not write below this line. Office use only.0 -

Everyone can make a mistake in their driving, but this woman thinks she's doing just fine, and sod everyone else.
Drivers with this attitude don't deserve a licence.0 -
That sort of situation happens every day; it's part of urban cycling. I have a habit of saying 'Thanks for stopping' in situations like that - 'cause, let's be frank, the car driver DID stop; it's the ones that DON'T stop that are the real problem. A quick 'thumbs up' and get on with it really - reinforces the positive attitude and maybe even reminds the car driver to look next time they come to a junction.Raymondo

That sort of behaviour is the kind of low grade thuggery that pisses me off. That fat sow may even have carried out that move on purpose, shame the cyclist didn't get the reg.0

Total Bollocks.
Scum like that will NEVER drive within the law and with consideration for any other road users.
What may have an impact on their behaviour is being caught by the police or having their side window put through with a U Lock and the lock carrying on into the fat c**** cretinous face.
They are the dregs of society and need to be treated and regarded as such.

You're right in principle but this is a commuting board, so cyclists can do no wrong
There are times I feel like mowing down a bunch of cyclists, the vast majority (and I would HAVE to say a vast majority) of whom apparently have red & yellow blindness and also cat genes in that they love to pop out of the sides of the road right when you're clearly accelerating down the road.
Of all the cyclists I see while driving in London, I'd say about 1-5% obey the rules of the road with anything approaching the regularity of a normal motorist, and about a third constitute a hazard in one way or another in the time I'm alongside/behind them.
And if you impinge on them just a tiny bit even out of necessity or you don't make way for their total road-sign-unaware moronicities, they go mental. And as far as I'm concerned, they can go **** themselves.
True, there are motorists who act like arseholes on the road to cyclists. But how many more cyclists act like even bigger arseholes on the road? If you're going to poke attention at this kind of behaviour, be unimpugnable - or at least as much as a normal road user.0 -

That sounds like a load of old troll rubbish I'm afraid. This woman was in the wrong. She had driven across the cycle lane. The fact that it's an everyday occurence does not excuse it and somehow make it OK.
As for the number of motorists ignoring the law vs the number of cyclists, I sincerely doubt that cyclists are in the majority. I see motorists speeding, parking illegally, talking on the phone on a daily basis and this does not take into account the number of uninsured, untaxed, un-MOTed drivers out there. Not to mention drink drivers.
Of course this does not excuse idiotic behaviour from cyclists (or pedestrians), but the fact remains that drivers are in control of 2 tonnes+ of metal and glass and can do far more damage than any cyclist could ever do. If you are driving in a city like London, you need to accept that there are going to be delays and that progress is going to be slow. Driving in cities is slow, expensive and polluting. Drivers neeed to come to terms with that. As someone in control of the most dangerous machine on the road, you have a duty to take care.Do not write below this line. Office use only.0 -
Armpitofillomen, you seriously fantasise about killing and injuring vulnerable road users?
The total number of cyclist commuters in this country (1m) is outnumbered by the total number of uninsured cars on our roads (1.1m).
Risky cycling is rarely the cause of cycling accidents:

In most vehicle/cyclist collision it is the driver at fault:
