As it says !
I had a play with one last night, and I'm somewhat impressed !
So, which version do I go for ?
Are the free maps any good, how do they compare to Garmin's, do they work on the 800 properly, or would I just be better getting Garmin's mapping ?
Cheers............ Matt

I have a 705, and have tried most maps... I've ended up with the OSM-based velomaps.
Only thing that might be better is the GB-Discoverer, but that doesn't work on the 705... That map has both a bitmap graphic element, and the vector element.
But in a straght choice between the City Navigator maps and OSM, I've taken OSM.Synapse Alloy 105 / Rock Lobster Tig Team Sl0 -

Before this descends into the usual Cake Stop flirting and dating service;
I do have the whole of the uk on memory map. Am I right in assuming that this can be down loaded onto the Edge800, but are more OS type maps and won't give me all the street names ?
Apologies if this sounds daft (I know the first part does ) but I'm not overly familiar with mapping gadgets.
Cheers.......... Matt
Actually, thinking about it, would I be right in thinking that Memory map is for my pc, for plotting routes, not for loading onto the Edge ?Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

third option - buy the enduro option (got mine from Evans for £360) with os uk discovery map heart rate monitor & cadence - does everything the of road version plus use for mtb riding as well.0

Matt, okay, I'll be sensible, but btw the dating service is no longer required, good old BR worked well a while ago.

yes you can, also has poi etc, my riding is 50/50 road offroad the only difference between the two versions is that the Enduro only covers the UK wereas the road version covers European cities as well.
The Enduro is also better value as the os map bought separately is nearly £200 but the road map can be bought for around £900 -

I just got an Edge 800 and I love it but it doesn't take memorymap. For riding on UK roads all you really need is UK Citynavigator, it`s only 30 quid.
I did discover this though, it`s great if you want to download bits of OS maps for free or free road maps of the whole country. I don't know what the routing is like on the free maps
