New wheels or new bearings?

I'm still using the Fulcrum 7 wheels that came with my first road bike, Kiron MTL-Blade. At it's recent service I was told I needed new bearings for both wheels. What do people recommend get new bearings or just get new wheels?

I've looked at the Mavic Aksium and the Fulcrum racing 5 but this is only shaving about 100g of weight off my current wheels. I'm on a tight budget so is the cost of new wheels worth it? I am trying to get faster.... :D

    Bearings = pennies.
    Wheels = hundreds of pounds.

    No brainer?

    Unless the rims are worn out, just replace the bearings. New lease of life for a few quid.

    Definately new wheels.

    Whilst you're at it, you may as well save up and get an entire new bike! :wink:

    In reality though, replace those bearings!

    How exactly is saving weight going to make you faster?
