...so they can prosecute him for riding on the pavement...The cyclist, who rode from the direction of the Aviva building, stopped and leapt into the river, pulling the pram and child to safety. He then rode off before the child's mother had a chance to get his name.
North Yorkshire Police are now appealing for the "Good Samaritan" to come forward following the drama which unfolded this morning.

That's my office building. I cycle and run along there (and it is a cyclepath, not a pavement!).
Hats off to whoever though- there's a long flight of steps and the water's pretty murky.Commute: Langster -Singlecross - Brompton S2-LX

Wasn't suggesting that the bird (goose or swan) was in any way involved in the incident. Just that there are lots of them hanging around outside the boat shed, just where the pram apparently went inCommute: Langster -Singlecross - Brompton S2-LX

So you're saying a goose tried to kill the baby?
Hmmm, urban geese are a menace, before we know it they'll be chasing DDD for his kebab, going through the bins and devaluing the pound. We need to bring back goose hunting immediately.
But, how will they affect house prices?0 -

Hmm, does anyone else really not get the "I ask the man or anyone who can help to identify him contact the police as soon as possible."?
I mean, if he didn't hang around or leave contact details afterwards, surely he'd prefer to remain anonymous?0 -

Maybe he was just rushing to work or something?

I was rushing to get on a train at Sheffield one time and went running up the stairs on platform 1 to get right across the other side of the station.
As I went pelting up the stairs I ran past this tiny old lady at the foot of them, struggling with this suitcase that was bigger than her.
I got to the top of the stairs, looked back and could clearly see she wasn't going to make it, so I swore (genuinely: I shouted "Sh*t!") ran back DOWN the stairs, introduced myself, asked if I could help with her luggage, got a "Yes" and a smile, grabbed the huge suitcase ran back UP the stairs. Left it at the top - indicated it was safe there and ran pell-mell for my train
I just made it!
God only knows what the poor lady thought at the time - I had no time for thanks or acknowledgement but I simply could not leave her there with no help.Chunky Cyclists need your love too! :-)

I reckon he pushed the baby in in the first place so that he could then act the hero. You know how dodgy these cyclist types are.===============================

I'm now thinking that the cyclist just saw a glimpse of "Maclaren" as the pushchair went under the water, thought it was the Specialized Mclaren Venge and jumped in to save it. When he fished it out he saw it was a pushchair and not Cav's bike and rode off in disgust.FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future

They should dramatise this. Do a Crimewatch reconstructo a la Battleship Potemkin of that stupid Untouchables film by Brian De Hitchcock Rip-Off.0

I've never dashed to someone's aid and saved their bacon. What a wasted life. Does being hit on the shoulder as a 15-y-o youth by a stray cricket ball that was heading straight for my mate's g/f count? Thought not...0 -
If cyclists had licence plates like all other hard-working road users, then there would be no problem tracking down this baby-snatching-from-canal deviant.0

I'm hearing that the cyclist was a multiple offender who didn't hold a valid Rod Licence and is being sought by the Environment Agency for prosecution too===============================

Well I'd be able to go around rescuing babies all the time if I didn't have to work all hours to pay road tax just so these two-wheeled menaces can ride through red lights and what have you.
It makes me sick.0 -
There's a cyclist down our road who swans about on a mobile phone, bold as brass. The police do nothing.
There was a lot less violence during the war.0 -
You can bet the guy was chasing a scalp
