Small marks on Rockshox stantions?

Hello all. I've just got a new set of Rockshox Revelations. On the first pair I noticed some small marks on the stantions. They were about 2mm long (horizontal) and ran most of the length of the stantions at even spaces but not in an exactly uniform pattern. They were very shallow and were under the gold finish but could be felt by running a nail over them. I took the forks back and exchanged them but the new set also has these marks. The chap in the shop suggested they may be caused by the clamping system used when pressing the legs in to the crown and should cause no problems. Anyone else notice these marks on their forks?

Tried to take photo's so I could email the shop to show them but the marks do not show up. They are about 10mm apart (vertical) and look like a small paper cut. :?

Do you clean them regularly, i.e taking forks apart and clean around seal?
