Hi all, I have just aquired some Shimano RS30 wheels.

I have a 10 speed 105 cassette that was swapped over from my old fulcrum wheels.

I have since noticed on Shimano's website it says for these wheels if using a 10speed setup use a 1mm spacer?

I cant find any more info on what this spacer is, where it goes and why its important.
Anybody shed some light on it for me.

Thanks in advance.

it fits on the free body before the cassette. as the part that sits on the splines is narrower than the body. it will have also been present on your fulcrum wheels and may have been stuck to the cassette by chain lube and you may have not noticed it. if it is not present the cassette will be lose on the body.

+1 Lots of people don't notice it when they take the cassette off cos it's stuck to the back of the big sprocket with black gunk. Alternatively you might have left it behind on the old freehub??

    I see

My LBS did the swap for me so I can only assume they put it on the new wheels as the cassette is not loose on the freehub.

I thought it might be a spacer that went on before the cassette to align it further out by 1mm.

    Thanks.

    -that's exactly what it is!

Ha ha, just read that back and I see how it could be read both ways.

I was making a statement, kind of saying thats what I had in my head that it might be.

Cheers for your help Keef. :D
