Got my rear cog changed for a bigger one and the "mechanic" fits it the wrong way round...

this is what its meant to look like from the right side of the bike

This is how he fitted it, not happy with the aesthetics, will it effect performance?

I doubt it; the teeth look symmetrical so they'd work either way round. In fact if you switch it around occasionally it should last a lot longer.

Get yourself some tools, you know it makes sense!

    makes no difference,

I have a superstar 1 for alloy freehub body and I get a better chain line with it the the cog the wrong way round with the combo of spacers supplied

your worried about how a sprocket noone is going to look at looks? Just pretty much the same, you just don't see the writing which makes it even more clean looking.
  • Guess I'm just being fussy, as long as the performance isn't effected in not to bothered

Its actually rounded on the side you see, hard to tell unless you knew

Thanks for putting my mind at rest

it is not the wrong way. It may be the correct way and you had it wrong before.

it all come down to chain line. the foot is offset like that to allow for some adjustability.
