Hopefully here's an image of my new bike, arrrived by Parcelforce at 7.30am today!
Quick test ride suggested everything's ok. Amazing how different it feels from my old Hardrock comp. Looking forward to taking it somewhere proper!!

SRAM X7 2x10, I'm well unfit at moment so it remains to be seen how I'll get on up a steep hill!
Rockshox recon silver (disappointingly no lock-out which I thought beforehand it would have, even though I've looked at this bike a million times before buying it, should've known!! Never mind though, something to upgrade in the future!)
Elixir 3's
Favourite bit though, only weighs 11.1 kilos!0 -

ah, got you
not sure about adding it? i'm not that technical0 -
That looks very tidy!
One question though, why did you buy a £750+ bike with equivalent spec to the Decathlon Rockrider 8.1 which only costs £499.99, the only difference that I can see is the weight and the own brand wheels (??)
Please feel free to set me straight on this0 -
Check out my name fella, I'm not called FrankSpencer for nothing!!
I looked around a lot at various alternatives, never saw the Decathlon, there's a lot of bikes out there! Seems it's out of stock now anyway. Would assume the Large version would be around 2 kilos heavier and I do like how light the Vitus is.
It's bang on the money I wanted to spend, I reckon I'll be happy with it for a good few years, and it can take some upgrades when needed I reckon.0 -
The curse of Frank Spencer strikes again. My bikes been reduced by another £150 since I bought it just a few weeks ago
Not only that, the 0.2 is now the bargain price of £699!
Oh well..... I still like it!0 -
Got some vouchers for christmas, but rather than buying sensible items such as decent tyres, some decent winter gear or maybe even looking into a fork upgrade, I chose to get the following unnecessarily expensive stuff
I know I don't need them but the bars are literally bullet proof for Christ's sake, that's got to come in handy; and now I've got expensive bits I'll obviously be able to go much faster and jump much higher!
Riding position seems pretty comfortable, as do the Vaults (as they should for £80!) but not tried a decent ride yet.
Other bits I've added since getting it are the Stinger, really shuts the bike up, and the the Conti Rubber Queens which seem OK but I've not really got anything to compare them too.
Planter in the background is a one off I'm afraid, knocked together by Uncle-in-Law, however, my girlfriend could knock together flower arrangements for you!0 -
Its nice, but the stuff you've bought is a bit contradictory of the bike itself. You've got dirt/downhill pedals, handlebars and stem on a bike which you purchased for it's lighteness.
Looks nice though.For Sale:

Actually, that's not strictly true. The Vitus is designed as a trail bike rather than XC, but with the bonus of being relatively light. I bought those pedals because they get top ratings in all reviews I've read, and they are lighter than several of the most popular brands.
I bought the bars purely on looks, saw them reviewed before I even had the bike and thought I have to have them. Besides, they weigh less than one of my farts. And the stem? Well Ragley bars, might as well have Ragley stem, and that ain't exactly portly! The Vitus is still pretty slender; and these parts are gonna stay with me through any bike upgrades I make (I'll want a full sus soon!)
I don't mind admitting that the brands have sucked me in, but ten years ago I was fitting K & N filters to my Nova GTE, it's the same thing! I'm a boy racer grown up with a new toy!!0 -
Very true and the spending gets worse, forks, wheels, frame, etc, etc, etc0

Nice bike btw, love the grips0
