Looking to upgrade my stock tyres to something lighter and quicker. Iv heard good reviews about the Nobby Nics but not sure what the difference is between the range.

Im up Thetford most days and its all tight hard packed single track.

Whats the difference between the 2 Nobby Nics or is there something better around the £20 per tyre mark on http://www.on-one.co.uk/c/q/tyres-and-tubes

My Evo was great but the wear is ridiculous, it's only done a couple of hundred miles- admittedly some of them pretty hard miles- and it's lost all the edges off its knobs, which has taken half the grip with them. They do work very well but I won't buy them again I think, just seems to be too soft to stand up to proper use.

For that price I'm tempted to pick up something a bit faster rolling than the 2.35 high rollers I have on at the moment. Maybe a RR for the back and leave the HR up front. Or just a pair of Nic's.

I think the Performance is a bit harder, so will last longer, at the expense of the added grip the triple compound will give you. I'd probably go for the Evo's myself, but risk having to buy replacements sooner.

Does anyone know how long these prices have been this low for? Or more importantly, when they will go back to rrp?

Or is it a Halfords never ending offer?

they're the 2009 models, so until they're gone I imagine.
  • I run Nobby Nic Evo's 2.25 front and rear on my cube. I've done around 450miles on them so far, the front doesn't seem to have much wear on it however the rear is well worn. I guess thats down to dragging the rear brake to keep speed under control on the offroad down hills.

I like the grip/rolling resistance and would be happy to buy them again.
