This years stage 18 looks set to be the toughest of the tour, an awesome day in the Alps with three infamous mega climbs. Yet stage 14 Saint-Gaudens to Plateau de Beille was given the title of Queen stage. My question is; What constitutes a Queen stage?

Distinctly heard on either ITV or Eurosport that Stage 14 was Queen stage.
