Newbie looking to get on the road

ive been into mountain biking for a few months, but since watching the tour and get seeing how fit a road bike can make you, the thought of getting a road bike hasnt left my mind.

i have no clue about what to get or what to do, was wondering if any one had any spares or freebies that could help a skint newbie out?

i am 6ft 8 so really dont know about sizes or anything.
Yesterday is History, Tomorrow a Mystery, Today is a Gift, Thats why it's called the Present

so im grabbing my bike and going for a ride
