Giant flat guard or Conti Gator skins?

So I've had my Giant Defy 2 for a few weeks now but I've noticed yesterday that the rear tyre (Giants own pr3 flat guard) has developed a strange problem. There is one part of the tyre that seems to have a slight intent in it - I can only describe it as an inverse bulge. Its not massive or anything but I can feel it through the saddle on very smooth surfaces. I've tried to re-seat the tyre with no improvement.

The question is should I be asking for this to be sorted under the warrantee? I have an almost new set of conti gatorskin ultras in the garage which I could throw on there. On the other hand the Giant tyres didn't seem too bad so maybe I should insist on a replacement.

Opinions please.

When i got my 2010 defy, the biggest thing that changed the ride was to slap some gatorskins on there. I doubt that the tyre would be sorted under warranty, but i'd still pop to the shop and ask. Don't get anywhere without trying.
  • I should have mentioned - I bought the bike off the internet so its going to be difficult to nip back to the shop.

Send them an email and ask then!
  • Will do. I'm assuming you're saying the gator skins were a substantially better ride - if thats the case I'm half inclined just to put them on.
