Chain length question

Im in the process of swapping to a twin and bash with a chain device, I have put my old chain on without shortening the length and it seems ok, should the chain be shorter than for a triple setup?

    yes it should be. around the two big rings without the mech (but if you have a bottom roller on the device it needs to go through that).
