Hi Guys

Can i take some CO2 cartridges on the plane home? Not in hand luggage I expect but if i shove 'em in the bike bag will i cause an explosion or otherwise got in trouble?

Cheers

The holds are usually pressurized anyway - but even if they were a vacuum the relative pressure of the canister would only rise by 15psi.

Though you should check with the airline for their rules.

even though they are relatively low psi these are d'rules

Hand luggage a definate no though, but your hear people taking spray deodrant in their checked bags and that shizzle will ignite. You're call but i wouldnt chance it
  • I'd find it highly unlikely that you could.

Can you not just buy them here or there wherever home is?

What would happen if they found them? Would they just take them out it would I get thrown off the plane?

How do those things travel round the world from wherever they are made? It is possible that they are shipped everywhere but I suspect they will be flown around in some parts of the world.

I never actually thought about it and left a few on the bike earlier in the year. They were fine when I got there and when I got back too.

Well true but neither CRC nor wiggle will send them to the Netherlands, I assume because they have to fly...

Ok, cartirdges out, but has anyone ever been done on the "No clothes in the bike box" rule

(even though mine is clearly a bag!)

  • Its not clothes in the box/bag its extra padding!
  • I've been done for the no clothes thing. I refused to take it out (it was under the weight limit) unless they wrote me a letter saying they had asked me to remvoe padding from my bike. They wouldn't do that and I ended up putting it on just as it was. The check-in girl called me a rude word but the guy operating the oversize baggage said that she's always like that :-)
