8 Speed - Chainset
I have Shimano 2300, (arguably the poorest groupset ever made ) anyway, my chainset is worn down and I need a new one. I could always purchase the sh*t I have at the moment, or could I use a 10-speed chainset on my 8-speed groupset. :?
Thanks alot G

I am inclined to think it wouldn't work properly. But the only way to find out for sure is to buy one and ride with it.0

It (10 speed) will work ok but not the best - why not just buy a new chainring(s) from Spa Cycles (unless of course if the cranks are somehow bu55ered).0

The rings on a 10sp chainset will be closer together than on an 8 sp one. If you go this way you will probably have to use a 10sp chain. Better to keep entirely 8sp0

A 9 speed chainset will work ok. I run a Xenon chainset on an 8 speed Sora system...it works fine.0

I run a 10 speed chainset, with a 9 speed chain and an 8 speed cassette. It all works perfectly.0

I run a 10 speed crankset on a 9 speed transmission and it's fine. But why do you want 10 speed? You'll likely be cheaper getting an 8/9 speed crankset.http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.
