Stem measuring

I want to change my stem for something a bit lighter (and cooler) but i've no idea what size my current stem is and i don't know where to take the measurement from and to.

I imagine it's from the centres, but like i say, i don't really know.

Any recommendations while i'm on about it?

    I suggest a trip to the FAQs would be a good idea.
