Has anyone tried a 6700 front mech with 6600 shifters?

I thought I read somewhere that Shimano don't recommend this combo but I'm wondering if there's any hard facts behind it?

TIA

Appears to be a marketing thing to suggest that these wouldn't work together. If the front mech cage has the same width as the previous 6600, then it must work OK. In practice, virtually all things made by the same manaufacturer for the same general purpose work OK together. Consider the mad idea that there are such things as 10 or 11 speed brake callipers.

I'd say it will work looking at this chart http://cycle.shimano-eu.com/publish/con ... s_2009.pdf

Same pull ratio...same brand...same width so why not.
