Bike Withdrawal

I only have one bike and it's back in the workshop again (long story which we wont revisit here) and i'll likely be without it for a week in total, and I am going bonkers without it - I hadn't realised what an important part of my life my bike is - I am literally withdrawing from it!!

I'm praying for good weather - it's been in the workshop since Friday, untested yet, as the mechanic is waiting for a dry day to ride it home and back the next day to try and figure out what is wrong with it, but due to all the rain it's been sat in the workshop since Friday, and still waiting...

The week before this I was on holiday, and bikeless then, so it's been 2 weeks now...

Does anyone else get the same feeling?! Watching Le Tour is just making it worse!!

Can't wait to upgrade next year so I will always have two bikes! (though doubtless double the problems going off my bike-luck so far!)

yeah - i get this - you do miss it if you can't ride for some reason - it could be a family event, illness of injury - or even extreme weather (for us oop north - of which you are one!)

your reason is easily cured though - you NEED another bike!!

I have my best bike in bits at the moment - cleaned from the manc-blackpool ride where it chucked it down around wigan - and then the chain lube washed off and it made a racket the rest of the way! - oops for dry weather lube! - it was nearly done anyway so it is in bits awaiting a new chain and new jockey wheels.

luckliy i have my winter bike as a backup! - hanging on the wall, ready to go (but weighing a ton! - i'd forgotten how heavy - ah well, it'll make me stronger i guess :-)

sorry, but that's utterly ridiculous. The weather is irrelevant. He doesn't even need to ride it 'home' - just around the block....

I havent been on a bike for 6 weeks now (broken collar bone following a collision) & it's driving me nuts. Worst of all is having to catch the train to work - thankfully I'm only back part time so travelling outside of rush hour.

Whilst a bike was written off - there's still 3 waiting for me when I'm ready - 2 of which could be pressed into commuting service.

    You definitely need n+1.

I'm in the same position. Injured and cannot ride (Nor can i even walk atm). Slowly fixing my withdrawal as i've just bought a new bike and a garmin unit for it, and my other two bikes are in the shop getting serviced (They're doing it for free for me which is nice). They'll be waiting for me for when i finally get on a bike!

Withdrawl sucks. I went through a period of 1 month last year without a bike, and by the time I finally got back on a bike for a decent ride other than on my city bike, I felt amazing!

Your day will come, young secteur.
