Watching on Alpe d'Huez

Sorry for posting this enevitable thread but.....
We are staying in Venosc and we will be watching the stage up the Alpe.
What is the best way to get to watch on the Alpe, we are planning an early start, drive as close as possible to the bottom of the Alpe, park up and walk the rest of the way.
I assume that no traffic will be allowed up on the day and i wouldn't want to risk taking a car up there anyway.
My questions are
1. Can you park anywhere on the road leading into Bourg d'Oisans or is there designated parking?
2. I have heard that it is possible to cycle to Oz-en-oisans and get the Telecabine up to the top of the Alpe, is that true or do they stop the Telecabine at a certain time?
3. Drive to Villard-Reculas and walk the rest of the way up to the Alpe (slightly less steep an incline)
What have people tried in the past that worked for them.
We are going to reccie the alpe today so may have a better idea after that.
