How much does Cavendish owe to Renshaw?

Not seen enough of the 2011 Tour to fully assess but it seems Cavendish has had some fantastic team support this year. Some of the drops are nearly on the line. Any thoughts?

Renshaw does a truly fantastic job and earns lots of credit. But equally last year once he was chucked out Cav still kept winning. Renshaw just makes life easier

He owes a lot to his team but is always the first to state its a team win. Renshaw is his preferred delivery system but as pointed out above he can do it without him.

dont think they will be together next year

I wouldn't be so sure, based on Renshaw's comments on the ITV highlights show.

If prince harry's interview after todays stage is anything to go by, i think Bernie, Renshaw and Cav will be moving as a 3 piece, or not moveing at all.

Probably reading too much into it, but Renshaw gave an interview (for Oakley I think) when he said that he would like to win for himself. He's said this before, but I thought that this time he said it with more feeling.

And Cav now rooms with Eisel (who snores, he tweets) rather than Renshaw.

Could be totally and absolutely nothing, of course, but I suspect that Renshaw may be going to Team Oz as their main sprinter. And who could blame him if he did? Although the three together are The Best.

I saw that as well and drew the same conclusion.

    Of the original question...

Alternatively, how much does Renshaw owe to Cav? He is a well known name in cycling circles due to his link to Cav's success. Would he be so well known leading out a.n. Other? Methinks not. It is a symbiotic relationship.

    Very true.

At the 2008 Tour Cav was being lead out by Ciolek and Renshaw was leading out Hushovd. They had both made a name for themselves, but they reached greater heights together.

press conference today will be key. If HTC are staying in for 3 years as reported would'nt you want Cav signed up to carry on?????

weak team if they lose the three piece and HTC will want profile

Cuddly Bob signed Renshaw and Eisel for 2 years last year, so if he's secured sponsorship, they're already under contract.

I think that's why Renshaw was slightly cagey about where he'd be because if High Horse continue, he'll be on the team.

I think the room mates get rotated in a three week race just to break up the monotany. Plus, if I had to spend 3 weeks in crappy hotel rooms with anyone whilst I was knackered, i think I'd want to kill them.

Eurosport had a little "Meet the team" feature with HTC, where they asked the riders questions like "Who's the toughest rider on the team", "who's the smartest", "Who's the worst to share a room with" etc. To the room question Cav said "I only share with Mark or Bernie, nobody else is tidy enough for me".

FYI, Bernie was universally named as the worst room mate, as he wonders around naked and does lots of stretching, when he's not naked he wears a leather thong!

We don't know what Renshaw could have been winning for himself over the last few years. It would be interesting to see how he manages on his own if they do separate.

A Renshaw/Goss combination would be frightening.
