Is there anything else out there for similar money that I could consider going for? This is the cheapest price I can find http://direct.tesco.com/search/default. ... n+edge+500

Slightly off topic, but 'speed sensor', does this mean a cadence sensor?

    Handtec have it cheaper

I got my 705 from them, and I know loads of people who got their Garmins from their too.

    anto164 - the Speed/Cadence sensor does both.

1 second recording was added in a firmware update recently (2.7 I think) so you can choose whether or not to use smart recording. I seem to recall that the tracking issues with the Edge 500 weren't actually down to the recording interval, but were actually due to a bug.

The only viable alternative at the moment are the Bryton units, but they seem to be riddled with issues (more so than Garmins) and the support is very poor.
    More problems but still living....
