I have a MV 5.8, I love it, better than the MV 05 it replaced, lower BB and slightly slacker angles i think.

Bear in mind that MV replace all pivot bearings free for life. (at least if bought new, not sure how this works if bought used).

the quad link makes technical climbing much easier than other designs I've tried. it seems to dig in for traction but ease over the bumps.

I have no experience with the Canyon.

I don't know if the warranty on frame and bearings really is supposed to be for original owners, but when I've replaced the bearings on my old marin, several times, nobody ever asked if I was the original owner, or for any proof. They just replaced them, no questions asked.
Same when I smashed a swingarm. No questions, no quibbles.

    Hi,

Must agree with the others you will not regret getting a Marin, fantastic suspension that can cope with anything you ask. The warrenty and back up service is supposed to be excellent ( I am on my second and never had a probem! so not had to use the service yet ).

Not sue about the Canyon supposed to be good spec bikes for the money but not availale from LB only direct. Not sure how good the warrenty is but I bet its not as good as with the Marin.

    Thats lucky!

I've been trying to source a cheaper way of replacing the bearings on my 2007 Mount Vision as I am not the original owner and have been quoted ~£120 for replacement at various LBS (Marin dealers), and the genuine replacements are silly expensive. I've seen a bearing kit on BETD for ~£80, which is still several times more expensive than most other bearing kits for other frames.

Oh, and I am another very happy MV owner...even my slightly older model has eaten everything I have thrown at it. Very impressed. Hoping to go for another Marin in future.

That's very strange. Have you tried contacting Marin or their distributors direct?

The Marin dealer in Edinburgh said they would only replace the bearings for free for the original owner. I cant see a direct contact for Marin on the website.

Frustrating as they are an odd size, seemingly only used by Marin. Most other frames seem to use more generic bearings.

Having said that, the bearings do seem to last a very long time!

Hmm, very strange. I've used a few different shops, and was never once asked if I was the original owner.
