Do shifters & mechs have to match?

I need a new rear mech, all current components are Campag, but I've come across a good price for a nice SRAM mech.

Will it work?

Thanks.

Unfortunately I think the answer is no, I'm sure campag doesn't like to mix :?b

No, best to stick with the same brand. FWIW SRAM and Shimano don't mix either.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Hopefully last silly question on this subject...

Currently all components on my bike are Veloce, from my MTB riding I always try and upgrade when I need to replace bits, so... Is the Campag Centaur mech better than Veloce? And if so, is it compatible with the shifters etc?

Please ignore, the Centaur mechs were out of stock, have ordered the Veloce and will now leave you all in peace...

    Cheers.
