XT chainrings help

I am replacing my 12 year old xt front chainring which has an old taper bottom bracket and was wanting to replace it with xt but it has changed to hollowtech 2. Have been told this can be a direct replacement without having to face the
bb hole. Anybody any advice?

Are you wanting to replace a ring, or the whole chainset?

you want to change the cranks or the chain rings?

if you want to fit any BB that has external bearings get the BB faced.
