On Sunday am riding the 56 mile Great Weston Ride in support of prostrate cancer and have persuaded nine of my work colleagues to join me, only two who really have any
experience. One of the others asked me "Will there be a headwind". My reply was "Yes".
Am I right?

If its a loop then yes...

Apprently there is a negative effect from wind for something like 100 - 120 deg from straight ahead, so the wind can be slightly behind and still slowing you down , not sure how much I believe it but...

The route goes south-west or west most of the way, and the BBC are predicting 14mph winds from the west, so a headwind is pretty much guaranteed.

Hopefully the rain will ease off for you though!
