Where in Newcastle
Where can i take my 6ys old son on his bike round the
Newcastle area?
He has done jesmond dean with no probs and is now looking
to go out every weekend. I have a van to put the bikes into
if i have to travel to get to a good track. Nothing to hard but
distance is not a prob with him as he has done a 15mile trek
befor and wanted to keep going (unlike his mum lol)
Links to maps so i can download them will be a great help.
Thanks.

Hello, Chopwell woods is great, it's got a main red route that would probably be too hard for a 6yr old (maybe?) but there's plenty to ride around.0

Newburn to Wylam on both side of the Tyne would be an easy 7 mile run out0

Derwent walk or newburn0

Another old railway - the Waskerley Way.
On a lovely summers days its a gorgeous easy ride with great views. As it's an old rail line the climbs are shallow.
I usually park outside Consett here

Get on the track and then head south west for as far as you want. Crosses the A68 at Rowley Bank and keeps on going to Parkhead Station by the B6278 (and beyond). A nice easy there and back.
It is quite exposed up on top though so best avoid windy days unless you really want to knacker the wee nipper.0
