Is there a valley floor route to the foot of the Telegraphe from Bourg or are you forced to go up and over the Glandon/Croix de fer?

Ideally looking for two loops from bourg, one including the Glandon/Croix de fer and one taking in the Telegraphe, Galibier and Lauteret.

Would like to avoid doing the whole lot in one go but may have to in the absence of any other sensible option.

Probably won't make it up the Alpe on the same day, if that is the case though.

Anyone know?

The valley road to the Telegraphe goes via Grenoble and up towards Albertville. It's 140-150km to St Jean de Maurienne at the bottom of the Croix de Fer.
You've no real choice but to do the lot in one go. There's a railway line down the Maurienne valley that might allow travel back as far as Grenoble, but that's about it.

    Hi

We done alp duez then carried on up past the heli pad onto the unade road onto the route Du col Sarenne. This was fantastic as you go rigt up to the edge of the Glacier. We then joined D1091 by the large lake at the start of the Lauteret and the onto theGalibier.

We then carried onto Briancon and stayed there, it was a hard day, we did have a support crew. Not sure if i could have done the telegraph after the others but if you were missing out the alp you could prob fit them in.

    Good luck

It is certainly "possible" to do the Glandon and then the Telegraph/Galibier (that is the route of the Marmotte) but it is a very hard day not to be underestimated- all the more so if you are doing it solo rather than in the context of an event where you have the occasion and all the other riders for moral support.

Maybe consider staying overnight somewhere like Valloire (after the Telegraph.) Alternatively, what we have done before was to rent a car and drive over the Glandon so we could do the Telegraph/Galibier from that side. This plan does mean that someone will have to descend back to the car though to drive it back to Bourg- or you could always do the Telegraph/Galibier the first day and the Glandon the next day and pick it up then.

    Enjoy, they are great climbs.
