Stan's no tubes conversion

I've just converted my DT X1700 (canyon specific model) / Nobby Nic wheels to tubeless using the standard kit. The first wheel went fine, but on the second wheel, when attempting to inject the sealant (using Stan's injector) through the valve, I ended up with a plug of sealant in the valve, and couldn't fill that way. The first time, I put a lot of pressure on the syringe, not knowing what had happened, and ended up getting covered in the milky goop when the tube came off the syringe. Ended up having to take the tyre partly off and do it that way.

So it's fine now, but just wondering if anyone had come across this problem before? My only thought was that the hole through the rim strip on the inside end of the valve must have been restricted, so the sealant was able to seal it, instead of flowing through easily as it had done on the first tyre.
