Cycling home on my 14 mile ride from work my chain decided to snap ! Or at least the TAVA removable link did !
It failed whilst climbing the steepest section of Hollingbourne Hill near Leeds, Maidstone whilst out of the saddle !
I have a lovely graze, lump and bruise to my inner thigh as graphic evidence of my "off".
Odd thing is that the link broke through the side plate which was solid. If anything I thought the chain would be first to go as the side plates are perforated.
I would add that the chain is less than a week old and the link about 1,500 miles old.
On the flip side I had a spare link onboard and a nice chap in an Audi stopped to see if I was ok. :?

I've done much the same before now - if you think about it then 'out of the saddle mashing up a steep bit' is the most likely time for chain bustin'.FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits
