all brake pads can make noises."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Rim brakes or disc brakes? Rim brakes tend to squeal if they are not 'toe-in' properly (the front of the pad should hit the rim just before the rear of hte pad...stops about 99% of all rim-brake pad squeaks.

All disc brakes make noises from time to time. In fact, in the middle of the night, when it's really silent, you can hear them whispering to you. Telling you things. Telling you to kill them. Kill them all.0 -

i personally find the high frequency warbling sound (like a turkey being inter-feared with) that occurs with absolutely no rhyme or reason not only stangley soothing but very useful alerting walkers to your presence, driving dogs crazy for miles around and scaring away other turkeys (they follow you you know.... especially at Christmas)0

And to answer the op with an actual example, my Shimano XT brakes made the previously mentioned turkey being raped noise when used with Superstar rotors and pads. Completly silent with oe parts. I now only use shimano. Works for me.0

I've found that not to be true with asymmetric cartridge pads (ie XT/XTR spec with one side longer than other relative to mounting thread) on my bike. Zero toe, silent braking."Coming through..."0 -
