Chainset Spacing Question

Hello everyone.
I've recently been converting my mtb from 3x9 to 1x9 as I never use the granny ring and the outer ring had some damage/was rarely used. I've already removed these two rings plus my front derailleur/shifter but have had some issues with the bolts holding the chainset together.
Usually the bolts would go through the outer ring, crank arm spider (terminology?) and middle ring but since the outer ring has been removed this has left a bit of play in the bolt. I have a temp fix in place of using spring washers to fill the gap but am hoping that there is a better fix.
Here is my chainset:

Is this product of any use?
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/id/single-chain-ring-bolts-ec006126#features
Lastly, I purchased the Superstar XCR chainguide but it seems to want to only work with a cog in granny ring position. Is this because of the BB I have installed or have I just set up the guide wrong?
Apologies if I've over explained the situation but I was unsure if other chainsets are fixed together the same way.
Thanks.

get shorter chainring bolts?
https://clee-cycles.co.uk/cc/catalog/pr ... cts_id=318
there will be cheaper ones around..0 -
so you need single ring chainring bolts. or a grinder.
how is the chain device mounted? ISCG mount or BB mount.
If BB mount you will need a E type BB. (is the BB square taper or Power spline?)"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Thanks Northern Monkey. I thought these were what I needed but just wanted to make sure.
Nick, It's a BB mount and power spline. This BB in particular:

So the chainguide wont work with this BB then? I've currently just got a few washers behind the plastic guide to make it level with the middle ring position but hoped there was a better fix.0 -
so there was no spacer fitted to the BB drive side originally?
You need a 68E version of your BB (or a new crankset/bb set up)."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

No there was no spacer.
I'll probably just wait and then change both the BB/Crankset together then when I decide they need it.
Thanks for your help.0
