Painting the frame? tips and advice please.

I want to paint my bike frame. I'm getting a Rockhopper (I think) and want to do a paint job on it, as the guy I'm dating has the same one and I'm not up for his n hers!!! plus I love customizing my things.

Can anyone give advice on how I might do this myself? I'm not looking for anything crazy, just 1 or 2 colours... or does anyone know of a good place that does powder coating in Berkshire?
