ive been looking at a gettin a pair of shoes for riding my bike. at the moment i use a pair of addidas cross country runnin shoews that grip well. however, im getting sick of catcthin my laces in the gears on the BB. ive tried alsorts of ways of tuckin them in but they always seem to come out and get caught. so i dont want lace ups anymore. lookin for shoes for MTBs they all seem to have a fixin for cleats. do i have to use cleats with them or can they be used without spd pedals ?

thanks for your help :D

Shimano AM41s, they have a lace flap so you don't have to worry about them

Yup, I use AM41's, very grippy even in the wet, easy to clean. Excellent shoe.
