Has anybody ridden at the Lecht ski centre before? They have now opened up the slopes in the summer for mountain bikers.

Was told about it by somebody when i was last out biking. Looks like it would be great.

To be frank it looks really rubbish, don't be expecting Whistler bike park, from what i gather it basicly follows the ski lift access road.

I havent been yet, as i just think it cant match fort bill for dh fun.
And the runs look short, so i dont think i could spend a day there.
So i would either spend the day at fort bill or laggan., but some time i will have to try it for myself.

I agree that it wouldn't match Fort Bill for DH but for somebody that is not an out & out downhill biker it might be worth trying out. Just going for the 4 hours rather than the whole day would let you know if you wanted to go back or not.
  • A full day may be too much but hey I frequent the Lecht in Winter for snowboarding and although the runs are shorter than the other places in Scotland the fun you can have doing multiple laps of the runs more than makes up for the big queues and bottle necks at Cairngorm for example. 20 short laps or 5 laps of Cairngorm. Also by the looks of things you could take a beginner or child to the lecht and let them take it easy down the track and for more experienced folk I bet they would have great fun flying down the tracks flat out, they look like they flow very well and some chances to get some air. Also a cafe at the bottom and no pedaling back uphill is a bonus.

I haven't tried it yet but I drive past the Lecht quite often and it certainly doesn't look like it follows the ski access road - the visible bit from the road is a series of hair-pin single track with sharp corners. Would love to give it a go some time soon.
