I've entered the 661 Gravity Enduro Round 4 at Eastridge Forest, starting August 6th! I can't wait!

It's a 2 day event and should be really good fun. Apparently there aren't many youth riders either, so there's an even bigger chance of taking something home too.

To say that I'm looking forward to this is an understatement.

It's meant to just be the DH sections of the red route so it should be easy as piss compared to my usual DH riding but i've still got some decent fitness so it should suit my.

Sounds good to me too, expet there are two sticking points.

1, I'm no downhiller but I have a steed that makes up for that.

    2, I'll be in Thailand.

Should be good... I'm well miffed that I've missed all of these  Was supposed to be at Innerleithen this weekend but dead car = no race. Should be a blast!

I've just chopped my bars down from 745mm to 720mm so I'll fit though the trees better and i should also be running an upgraded 2X9 setup by race day. 8)

Didn't need to do that, I get on fine with 760's on the DH bike at Innerleithen and have no trouble at all with 745's on my 456. But then if you aren't used to trees being within 20 feet of you...

I remember at the IXS last year a lot of the riders were complaining about how narrow the gap between the trees on the track was (it was pretty wide), oh how we wanted to send them down Deer Hunter  Look up videos of it, now thats pretty tight then there's this gap in the arena that is probably about 800mm wide so you just about fit through it, it's just on the left hand side of Cresta Run as you cross the bridleway at the bottom, it switchbacks down a fairly steep bit and on the entrance of the first switchback is said tight gap. Go ride it, it's fun and can be a real test for those that don't like tight gaps. That's about the only two places at Innerleithen where it gets so narrow that you start to consider sub 700mm bars again

Apparently Eastridge Forest is pretty tight and twisty in places, that's why I cut them down. Im also finding it hard on XC, fitting through the trees on local singletrack.
  • if its anything like innerliethen yesterday and the first round at ae forest a few months ago there will be quite a few off piste sections that are very steep and technical. certainly harder than your average red route.

edit: expect a lot of stuff like this http://www.vimeo.com/23684494

and that was one of the easier corners at ae forest!

Might be worthwhile double checking where it is. The marker on the map and the postcode they give is of Haugmond Hill on the east side of Shrewsbury. Eastridge is a 30 mins drive further south, near Minsterley. Postcode if you need it, is SY5 OTS.

I've very nearly got everything I need for my 2X9, just waiting for the Blackspire Stinger. I've also got a beefier front tyre, a Minion DHF 2.35. I've been advised by the somebody who ends up on the podium quite frequently, James Green, to slam the saddle for the stages so that's what I'm doing. He was also the one who told me to get a better front tyre, I'm taking heed. I've been doing a bit of training specifically for it too. I've been doing my useful DH riding and XC plus some training on short, sharp climbs. I've also need spending some time at the BMX track, I don't know if that'll hlep me at all but it was fun. I'm getting pretty decent at manualing through rollers.
