Very entertaining, especially when the Subaru driver lost it.
That Mini goes like stonk and holds the corners to very well indeed..

To be fair that doesn't sound like a standard a series.

nice. interesting to see how the mini takes such a different line through the corners, but doesnt quite have enough grunt on the straights

I think, if memory serves, 1480cc is about the maximum you bore an A series block, so it could be a standard block with the twin-cam 16v modded head

    your memory is failing.

with out stroking the crank 1380 is the largest reliable size. (73.5mm pistons and an offset bore).

with a stroked crank you can get up to just under 1600cc.

Not sure if it was me watching it late last night but that Scooby driver looked like he didn't even know what the racing line was. Was this meant to be some sort of race series or just 2 blokes f@rtar$ing around on a track day?

    4WD Verses FWD .

Ever followed a 911? they take mad lines.

    Yes part of a race.

Yep, I have followed a few on trackdays - while driving a Jap 4WD coincidentally. Could probably explain that by the wierd rear-biased weight distribution.

A badly driven 4WD often comes off worse when up against a well driven FWD.

1430 is (or was) the largest reliable size, but not very 'reliable'. I had one with the 16v head back in 1993, two seat, stripped out with cage. Used to 'annoy' the southend rs turbo and gti drivers (ie drive like the young idiot I was) by peeling them off on country lanes. Eventually destroyed the car by taking the army & navy roundabout in chelmsford at around 70mph and sheering the rear sub frame bolts causing the rear end to detach. In this state they also overheat like a Cnut, and failed to start or run, the heat from the engine vaporises the fuel in the carb, even with heat screening, carbon wrap helped but was uber expensive

I scared the carp out on many RS and GTi owners with a good old 5 port

you had a Mini 16V which flavor?

last time I asked for a price for a engine and box I would looking at 10k as a starter and I dont think they ever came down in price.

Old man thinks it was a jack knight. Would quite fancy one of the 2 ltr Vauxhall turbo jobs you can get now or even a Honda vtec.

What made mine funny was that apart from wider wheels and clips holding the front on it looked like a cityE. Kept the rear silencer on, but it really exited to the passenger side.

Oh angle grinders and grease, my lifes become quite boring really.
